The Meeting
The meeting is a working meeting; it is informal and the dress casual. I tell people, bring your wheelbarrow full of stuff (financial information) and I will answer your questions. Not every meeting is the same, but typically we will start with paperwork, which consists of the Form ADV and my contract. Next we will talk about why you came and where you are in life. More importantly, we will discuss what you hope to accomplish in the future. The next steps are dependent on your questions and needs. Past experience tells me many clients are looking for spending/retirement guidance and a review of their portfolio.
At the end of the meeting you have various alternatives:
Decide
to do nothing. Often clients' questions are completely answered.
This type of client decides when they would like the next meeting. This may
be in 3 months or in 3 years. These future meetings are typically billed at
the current hourly rate.- Sign up for the 6-month retainer service. This extends the one-time meeting service in to a full comprehensive plan during the following 6 months.
- Sign up for one of the on going services.
- Sign up for the Full-Retainer service. This on-going service provides 4 meetings per year and is for clients that like or need a lot of hand holding.
- Implementation meeting. This 2 hour meeting answers any remaining questions you may have after one of the three initial new client services.
